“Wide hips.” Childbearing hips, thunder thighs, whatever you call them, they can be a source of body image angst, especially in a society that often promotes a slimmer silhouette. For years, I felt self-conscious about mine. Felt like they made me look “bigger,” “less graceful,” and limited my clothing options. Then, I had a moment of…realization. Wide hips are strong. They’re powerful. They’re built for movement, for strength, for…well, yes, for childbearing, but also for so much more. And in that moment, something shifted. My “wide hips” started to feel…powerful.
I started focusing on exercises that celebrated my hip strength, not tried to minimize their size. Squats, lunges, power movements. And as I moved, something else happened. I felt stronger. More grounded. More…powerful. My “wide hips” stopped being a source of insecurity and became, surprisingly, a source of empowerment. They became a foundation of strength, a symbol of power, and a reminder that bodies are built for function, and that strong is beautiful. Your hips, whatever their width, are powerful. Move with strength, stand tall, and let your body be your superpower.
